Jet: The magazine Far Shore
The mere concept of observation of space and the planet is enticing. Being able to discover new species and traveling on a plot of another world is a fantasy that can only be done through video games. Although many have tried, none really captured the excitement of the exploration and serenity of space. Jet: The Far Shore seeks to get away from his peers by combining a soothing study of distant worlds and an intriguing narrative, but will it be a cosmic trip that many were waiting for?
As Ma, you leave in the stars looking for a planet that can house a civilization at the edge of the extinction. Before mass migration can take place, ME must collect data and prospect the area to ensure a safe passage through the interstellar.
By driving the Jet, you will derive through vast worlds by performing a series of subordinate tasks to determine if the zone is conducive to colonization. Immediately, fear and wonder will invade you when you start exploring unexplored worlds, which are wrapped with mysticism. The dynamic camera withdraws to highlight the magnitude of the areas, promising unique discoveries just above the horizon. Although impressive by their size, the areas are sterile and fail to take advantage of the possibilities offered by the premise.
The objectives are simple, you forcing you to move tediously to points, to scan creatures and collect objects. Although the search for the region is a relaxing and low pressure mission, it quickly becomes a chore. This has been increased when given a time-based goal, one of which was to walk without purpose for 20 minutes by scanning elements. The game wants you to take your time, at first, you lose the possibility of using your thrusters, which translates into a horrible mission where you slow down your movements in areas by collecting resources to repair them.
Hover over the vast ocean is nice. The elegant ship is reactive, allowing you to cross the huge environment. Super brothers managed to capture the tranquility of maritime navigation. You can hover in the air and plunge with elegance in the water with ease. The thrusters can overheat, which requires you to handle this aspect while turning on the ground. Problems occur when you fly over the islands. With obstacles on your way, you must avoid the dangers to reach your goal. At these points, the game falls at a rhythm of snail. The ship seems slow, making travel difficult in restricted areas. On top of that, you will have to fight with the camera that seems to move away from itself, which makes these segments frustrating. This is amplified because of picky controls. Rather than simply pressing the button, you must hold it down to activate and disable the thrusters. In addition, when a goal appears, you will need to align your screen with the launch area of the mission. Although its small problems, they merge to create a dull shipping.
Polarizing the peaceful shipping, hostile creatures will pursue you through the environment. The beast analysis will give you information about how to defeat them, which tends to depend on the use of objects in the area: essentially more analysis. However, you can hide some and hope they do not care. These are not particularly fun segments, but they modify the laborious pace of exploration that constitutes the majority of the game.
In some places you disembark to explore the world on foot. Here, the camera goes to a prospect to the first person allowing you to enjoy the beautiful environment. These sections focus on narration, giving you the opportunity to talk to the different characters you meet. The audio being in a different language, you are obliged to read tons of dialogs that can be distracted enough when you browse the world in the Jet. Ma walks on the floor at a frightful pace, creating painful moments where you try to rush to the ship.
A climax of the game is the amazing combination of visuals and sounds. The incredible partition made perfectly echo in the extraterrestrial world. Because of the atmospheric soundtrack, a great feeling of despair and hope is confused gloriously, creating malaise when you derive in the mystical world. Elongated shadows cross the seas while the light shines through the cracks of architecture, emitting a soothing aura, which is only slightly tarnished by the strange performance problem.
Jet: The Far Shore is an ambitious game whose vision is relentless. Placing the peaceful exploration in the foreground, missions lack direction and purpose. Although it is ideal for flying over long distances, the Jet meets many problems in compact areas. With steep movements, boring missions and frustrating enemies, Jet: The Far Shore does not reach an ambitious goal.
