3 things that New World still needs to improve priority

The new MMORPGNEW World from Amazon recently finished the two-week closed-beta. We from Meinmmo have viewed us with what problems the game still struggles and what must be improved before release.

What is New World? New World is the new and first MMORPG from Amazon Games Studios. It should appear on 31.08.2021.

How did the beta? The beta to New World started on 20 July and was immediately popular. Up to 187,726 players slipped at the start of the beta, which New World could catapult on 3rd Steam Charts, and still before the actual release. Also numerous streamers were on Twitch and brought about 170,000 followers in the New World category.

But the beta was also plagued by some technical problems. Especially at the beginning, Amazon's servers were not very stable and players partly hung up to seven hours in the queue to be able to play on the server of their choice.

Even if you were logged in, there was in place crashes, a large debate about overheated graphics cards and performance problems. Many things are typical "beta diseases", but there are also problems that are deeper in the game. Three of them are particularly important for the community.

"You really have to be stupid to do not create a quest"

What is the problem? The heading is a little bit expressed, admitted. But the mission and quest design is one of the biggest problems of the coming MMORPG: the quests in New World do not finish.

That could be due to the original concept of the game. Most of the PVE content found its way into the game during the last year. Many tasks just always run the same, with running already the keyword.

  • You run to a quest
  • Then you drive to the opponents that kill your or things you need to collect. Other quests are a rarity
  • Then you drive back to the quoter

The highlight of this design is the quests that just run you just. Namely from a city to the other to bring something back and then back.

The quests are monotonous, if not boring and fulfilling almost never a deeper purpose than to be a quest and bring experience points. This is not only a pity, but for players with solo-PVE content focus a crucial point as to whether the game is bought, or not.

That's why it must be resolved: If the quests of a game do not work, a large part of the PVE content is automatically gone. New World offers many different possibilities in the level, but for the players who like it more classic and want to ascend through quests, the problem is currently critical.

Especially in a new game with more recent standards, you almost expect quests that go deeper than "kill 10 wolves" or "collect 20 berries". New World clearly falls behind the expectations, which ensures disappointment in the player's shape.

How likely is it to be released? The quests are a problem that is deeper than to fix a few numbers in balancing. Since the release is only less than a month away, it is unlikely that this problem will change to the publication.

But it is conceivable that Amazon screws here subsequently and make the quests better in the medium to long term. This would be important above all to give new players a better experience. It is important for New World to attract new players in the long term and keep them after hype.

That's the status: The problem with the quests should be aware of Amazon. It is probably fixed at some point or at least improved, but we do not assume that there is a lot going on until the 31st of August.

"The combat system is a spam festival, in which you only press what is ready"

What is the problem? The combat system of New World has already participated and learned some revisions. Currently it's okay, but okay is not enough to hold players long at the bar.

It is controversial to really count the combat system as a problem because it also has some fans. Nevertheless, it is difficult in criticism. The core features of the combat system are composed as follows:

  • Two weapons, between which you can change
  • Each weapon has three different skills
  • It is important to dodge and block, but it takes a relatively long time
  • Even normal attacks bring you into an animation lock

Animation-Lock is called it when you start an attack and then "caught" in the animation, until the attack is over, no matter what happens. In a game where it is important to block and dodge, this is a fatal wrong decision for many players.

But the combat system also has many fans, because individual actions last relatively long. Some believe that it will be considered. The fact that one decides to an attack specifically, to memorize attack patterns and more tacted.

The other faction, however, believes that by the possibility of weapon change and through the long time the character needs, until it blocks, more likely to press all buttons until the opponent falls. (via reddit)

That's why it has to be resolved: Even if many players find the battle system of New World, it is not very helpful for a new game if the other half of the gameschaft finds such an essential part of the game.

Also in the PVP that comes to wear. New World offers many modes in the PVP, in which many players should meet. Here to die because you do not meet your opponent simply, although you are right in front of him is frustrating.

Here, Amazon would have to turn on some screws to make the combat system especially for new players and those who do not want to memorize opponents to memorize. Quite simply, in a MMORPG in which one spends half of his time with fighting, fighting should make every fun.

How likely is it to be released? One month is little time to turn something so profound at a game. However, Amazon has been working on the combat system for a long time and has already revised it several times. So it is conceivable that there are still some set screws to be adjusted before the game ultimately appears.

This is the status: The combat system is not necessarily beginner-friendly. However, the greatest criticisms in the fight could be created by changing some numbers from the world. We can not surely say if Amazon will accept that, but a point that can be definitely easier to change than the quest design.

"Traveling through the world will just be annoying from some point"

What is the problem? The 'New World' is pretty to look at and big. In the first hours of the game the island is still impressive and later one stays more often enthusiastic to just look around. But have you played the game for a few hours, you have seen yourself faster and the problem comes to light.

There are too little fast travel points. You spend a large part of your time with it just to run. There are no ribs and the fast travel points are not particularly generously distributed.

Also spontaneous events as in Guild Wars 2 or the upcoming Lost Ark hardly exist in New World. So you spend a large part of your time running.

This will become an actual highlight of New World, namely the world itself, sometime to an annoying aspect of the game, in any case with regard to the gameplay. This is just a problem for players to play the projects, New World long.

That's why it has to be fixed: Traveling through the world must be fun and it has to go swirls, for example, if you hurry to a friend to help him. Especially for an open-world game it is not good if moving in said open world makes little fun.

In contrast to the other two problems this is something, which also annoys long-time gays and will not be better in the endgame and with more experience. Here Amazon must therefore urgently improve.

How likely is to be released? Setting fast travel points into the world or to turn a little at the run speed or endurance, thank God is not a witchwork. So it is conceivable that Amazon takes here the player's gamingback of the beta and already works on this problem to have managed to publish the world.

To Release a solid game

When is New World? The game from Amazon appears on 31.08.2021 and will hopefully have already implemented a lot of feedback from the beta. How much is improved exactly is still unclear at the present time, but New World is an important release for Amazon.

What needs to be resolved? In addition to the 3 large, points raised, there are many little things that New World should take and improve from the beta. These are Quality-Life things like that you should be able to use the inventory as well as running.

In addition, Amazon still has to screw something about the performance of the game, here there was problems in the beta again and again. But we can assume that many of these little things can be resolved to the release.
