Today, I am allowed to swarm a really great character, which I recently got to know, but immediately closed in my heart. She is a deuteragonistic hero figure (so the * the second most important hero * in history) as it is in the book: courageous, intelligent, strong. But also mechanically versed, batched to robots and beings of other dimensions and also very fluffy. My heroine is a Lombax and wears the sonorous name Rivet.
A big heart and a gentle side
Already in the first few minutes I've played Rivet in the match Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, I liked her and her kind very much. Actually, even on the run, she decides to risk her own life to save another being in front of the nasty troops of Emperor Nefarius. To help you are more important than your own integrity. Rivet has the heart in the right place, she is brave and also a cool personality, which always has a cheeky saying on the lips.
But Rivet is a character with depth and so there is not only scenes with her in which she is strong and brave. It does not fall slightly, but sometimes she also gives a look at her vulnerable and insecure side. So she presents it depressed that she already fights her life against Imperator Nefarius and friend's fantasy fell victim. She also looks nervous to her first encounter with Ratchet and shy to meet another Lombax for the first time. Rivet is a colorful nature through and not only visually, but especially with its complex character. She is in a good mood and cheeky, but also thoughtful and reflected. And always considered to the well-being of the other.
Already in the trailer to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has just made Rivet curious:
Great representation
In addition to these qualities, I also excited about Rivet. Rivet has a bionic arm prosthesis. But neither she nor the game on the whole, there is a big topic out of it. In the course of the game we learn about and after the background, but the story is not told us as a dramatic fate, but more casually in several sections. Even though Rivet is anger in the meantime, she refers to the situation in which she lost her arm, and not on the event itself. On the contrary, she even says, "but I built this cool arm. So is okay!"
to the author Melanie Eilert deals with inclusion, games and musicals. She lives with spinal muscle atrophy and has been cruist since its fourth year of life in the electric wheelchair through the world. On her blog meilert.net and as Melly_maeh near Twitter, she talks about her experiences as the disabled Gamer and all topics around inclusion.
Rivet meets me the desire to implement the representation of disabled characters in my eyes. A disability that is simply there, but not dramatically staged and does not represent the main turning and pivot for the development of the character or history. With Rivet is handled as with all other characters too.
With Rivet it has done "click"
In Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart I got a wonderful female heroine, which I really liked to play. Whenever I had the choice, I first played the quests with Rivet because I just like to spend time with her. Ratchet is clearly a great character and his scenes have fun for me, but with Rivet it has made "click" from the beginning and we were immediately on a wavelength.
With Rivet very much was done for me. Her fluffy character design has been very successful and she looks great. Rivet is a cool Badass heroine with a great heart, which can also look through vulnerability despite its strength. And casually, she also has a disability that is well dealt well.
