The new player of the English third division Ipswich Town with the jersey number 17 is Ed Sheeran. That announced the club on Friday. The 30-year-old singer is part of the official squad of the blues and he will also be seen on the team photo for the coming season.
"That's crop or not? When Ild I said to me, I thought that was a joke, but I like the idea very much," said Sheeran on the website of the association. "I think that's a great season and it's an honor for me that I now belong to," he added.
Sheeran has been a big fan of the club since daydays and since last season of the jersey sponsor. "I hope that the award of the jersey number to me is only symbolic. Because I want us to rise - and that will not get anything when I play," sheeran laughed.
