As Reuters has reported, Unity Software has decided to establish a joint company in China valued at one billion American dollars under the name of Unity China . The agreement has been officially closed today, August 9, and marks the goal of unity to expand along the globe.
The firm, according to the British agency, has been associated with large Chinese technology companies such as Alibaba Group, China Mobile Ltd, Oppo and Douyin, the creators of Bytedance (a Chinese version of Tiktok). However, the American company will retain the majority property and, therefore, the control of this joint company in China.
It was Reuters herself who already reported last week of Unity's plans in order to strengthen operations in the country, something they intended to achieve by giving greater local autonomy and reinforce their user base in China. Now, they will begin to create personalized local versions of their main developers and will become the exclusive distributor of Unity's products and services in China.
As indicated by Gamesindustry, Zhang Junbo, the executive director of Unity China, has indicated that the company intends to expand its offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou with the incorporation of more than 1000 engineers in the coming years.
The news, coincides with another of today, which says that Applovin, a technological and mobile marketing firm, has launched an offer of 17.5 billion dollars for the purchase of Unity. Adam Foroughi, Executive Director of Applovin, said that the combination of the two companies will potentially generate an adjusted operational gain of more than $ 3 billion by the end of 2024.
