Wargaming dismisses the creative director of World of Tanks for publicly supporting the Russian invasion in Ukraine
Wargaming has dismissed Sergey Burkatovskiy, creative director of World of Tanks, after this publicly show its support for the illegal invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
In a post on Facebook that has already been eliminated, Burkatovskiy said he supported "the operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, DPR (the People's Republic of Donetsk) and the LPR (People's Republic of Lugansk)".
One day after he answered the same post saying that he had "broken with VG" (VG translates to WG and refers to Wargaming).
Wargaming has confirmed PC Gamer dismissal.
"Sergey Burkatovskiy expressed his personal opinion on social networks, which categorically does not reflect the company's position," said a representative of the Belarusian company. "He has been fired and no longer works in the company."
Wargaming was founded in 1998 in Belarus. He currently has its headquarters in Cyprus, but it employs hundreds of people in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
Kiev's study has made a donation of thirty million grivans (around one million dollars) to the Ukrainian Red Cross, in response to Russian invasion.
The company has also made changes in your online advertising, which paralyzed and redesigned to eliminate the images of tanks and military vehicles. The new publicity can be seen in all countries less in Ukraine, since they believe that "it is inappropriate and insensitive to promote our games while the country is at the center of the conflict."
